Regarding Wisconsin Power and Light’s request as reported in your news today, 9-5-08:
“Wisconsin Power and Light Company has asked the state Public Service Commission for permission to raise electric rates by 9.2 percent. That would translate to nearly $9 a month more for the average residential customer.”
It is stated the increase would equal nearly $9 a month for the average residential customer.
The question: What is the average residential customer usage and bill amount (prior to the increase)?
It is very hard to determine how much impact this increase will really have without knowing how much it will actually increase each users bill.
Thanks,
Mary
What are all the counties in Wisconsin that have confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus? Is it possible to keep a link that is continually updated on the channel3000 website for this information? I know that these areas do not want an outbreak of hystariea but I feel it is our right to know it is in our areas to help take extra precautions (more then we already are) to protect ourselves and loved ones from falling ill. Last I heard of any counties, there was a confirmed case in Adams county, and I am in Juneau county…not too far. Some of our county workers (WIC and Health department) also work in Adams county, so there is the potential of transfering it here with out even meaning to and before they are even aware of doing it. So, if it is please possible to know where the confirmed cases are, what counties, and have a continuely updated link on the channel3000 website, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
Hi Mark,
My question is really for Matt Joseph.
Which is the best car to buy?
The Mercury Grand Marquis or Kia Amanti.
Can some folks have “psychic powers”? And/or in reality, find that those things that one either dreams of, or knows will happen before it happens…..is this a form of a psychic power?
Mr Mark,
A few weeks ago my Mom and i were at the Henry Vilas Zoo – we saw that two of the giraffes are on loan to another zoo. How do they transport the giraffes to another location? Do they use a truck? If so, how tall is it?
About a week ago you had a musical trio on ( panio, violin, woodwind)That played such beautiful music. I missed their names and where to get their CD’sPlease put them on web site.
There has been alot of talk about motorists slowing down & stopping for red/yellow lights to avoid accidents with bicyclists. However, I havent heard anything about bicyclists who ride right through red lights. I have seen this quite often.
When ever there is a tax or fee increase or additional public service created for the state or city, it is stated how much of a tax increase there will be for a average $250,000 home. It is usually a relatively small increase.
Over the last year, what is the total of all these relatively small increases.
Hi Marc, I was wondering, we were up in Madison this past Wed. and we came by he new library being built there on Park Stree, I was wondering where do all those books come from that they will furnish it with.

I hear that the president is coming to town.
What I want to know is, “Who was the last sitting president to step foot within the city limits of Madison?”
No one seems to know. Help my out here.
Hello Mark;
I would like to know, what happened to the channel 3000 webpage? Almost a year ago, I had the internet, & have used it has my home page. But, since I moved here to my hometown. It’s been a while, before I could hook up the internet. But, my main question is. Where are my friendly faces, of the Channel 3 news people? I would much rather seem them on my home page, than some advertisement. Can I have those faces back? I have watched Channel 3 News, since Jerry Dean was the News caster.
I have 20 blankets that need homes. Can you help?
In October, residents were asked to vote for a new license plate design. The winning choice was a design with a badger and a meadowlark. Was this a binding choice and if yes, when might the new plates be available?
Hi. There is a car on my street that was parked overnight that blocked the plow as it came through this morning. As a result, several houses (including mine) did not have the street plowed in front of their houses. This car is completely covered in snow and will not be moved.
Do car owners have 24 hours to move their car in a snow emergency? If they don’t, is there a number I can call to have it towed?
Thanks!
With all the technology your weather department has, how come when they are clicking through the weather maps and click too fast, they don’t have a button on that remote to go back? I would assume it to be like a powerpoint where all you have to do is press the back button. It just seems strange to me that will all the toys and gadgets they have they can’t go back when they click too fast past a specific graphic?
How do the Wisconsin county highways get named?
Some are one Letter Such as “A”, some are two letters “PD”, Some or similar “PB”, Some are even three letters”AAA”.
Is there any ryme or reason?
Marc- There is so much talk these days about going green, and trying to reduce the amount of paper that is used, printed, etc. I live in Sun Prairie and have now received 3 phonebooks, that all have esentially the same content. Why is it that we are getting so many phone books, especially now with the internet so readily availabe? I for one never even use my phone book! I think it is such a waste to use all this paper, when they hardly ever get used anyway!
Thanks, Heather
why is it that everybody has to wear seatbelts, except passengers on busses. If we get caught without a seatbelt we get a fine. I think ALL passengers should be required to wear seatbelts. If the passengers aren’t required to wear them it should be a choice, not a requirement.
Hi Marc–
I have a question about something called a “spousal surcharge” concerning health benefits. My wife’s employer has instituted an additional monthly charge because I have access to my own health insurance through my employer but decline it because hers is less expensive. I know it is legal, but is there any way to avoid it?
Hi,
Hope all is well with you. This question is actually from my dad. We don’t have cable, and ever since we began using the digital converter box, we’ve had trouble with a large black rectangle covering up a large portion of the screen from time to time. This tends to happen very frequently when watching golf or other sporting events on Channel 3 on the weekends, often after only a minute or two. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Seth
Hi Mark,
I was wondering just how many people who bring us weather on various stations, both local and national, are trained meteorologists? I know that many of our Madison forecasters are trained, but what about national?
Thanks
HI
Do the thrill ride operators in the state of Wisconsin need a license or certification to operate the rides at local festivals/carnivals and amusement parks? It seems to me that if you need a license to drive a car, motorcycle, boat and air brake trucks, shouldn’t this be the same for the thrill ride operators?
Thanks Much
Maddie
I’m confused on city cars. if your a city employee and you use a city car to go back and forth to work, they say it’s a benifit, but if that same car stays with the individuals and parked in there driveways, even on weekends and while their on vacation. wouldn’t that make it a personal car the city taxpayer pay for. who pays upkeep and insurance

Hi,
Is Madison considered a date friendly city for single people? I’ve noticed that big cities around the nation have the highest singles rates such as Austin, Chicago, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, but what about somewhere such as Madison? I feel like everytime I”m going out and about, I see couples everywhere but hardly any single people. I mean, I know single women exist in Madison, just as much as single men exist but if its hard to meet any women wheather you go out and about at night or even in the daytime, then how is it possible?
Thanks in advance
Maxwell

wouldn’t a good place to start balancing the state, local, or federal budget be with the salaries all the politicians are getting. lets cut their salaries down to the average and cancel alll their benefits that most people don’t get. how much would that really help our budgets?
Hey Mark;
I think this question would be very appropriate about now. How many times has a “recount” resulted in a reversal from the original winner?
Hi Mark …
I’m curious about the brown needles in evergreens along the road and in yards. Is there a disease or is it winterkill?
Thanks.
